
The State Bank of Pakistan has been authorized by the Federal Government to issue a commemorative coin worth Rs. 50/- in honor of the Golden Jubilee of the Senate of Pakistan. This momentous occasion will be celebrated in 2023 and marks the 50th anniversary of the Senate of Pakistan, also known as Aiwan-e-Bala Pakistan or the House of the Federation.
As the upper legislative chamber of the bicameral parliament of Pakistan, the Senate is a permanent House and symbolizes the continuity of national affairs. It is composed of equal representatives from all provinces of Pakistan and plays a vital role in the country’s political system.
The commemorative coin will be made available for exchange through the State Bank of Pakistan’s Banking Services Corporation at all field offices from March 17, 2023. The coin is round and milled with a diameter of 30.0 mm and a weight of 13.5 grams. It is made of Cupro-Nickel with a metal content of 75% Copper and 25% Nickel.

On the obverse face of the coin, the waxing crescent moon and five-pointed star facing North West are located in the center. The words “ISLAMI JAMHURIA PAKISTAN” are inscribed in Urdu script above the crescent star. Below the crescent, the year of issuance-2023 is inscribed on the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward. The face value of the coin in the numeral “50” in bold letters and “RUPIA” in Urdu script are written on the right and left sides of the crescent star respectively.
On the reverse side of the coin, the Insignia of the Senate of Pakistan is displayed in the center, with the artistic numeral wording of “50” on the right-hand side. The words “Pakistan Senate Golden Jubilee” are inscribed on the top of the insignia in Urdu script. The duration of the golden jubilee (1973-2023) is written below the insignia. This commemorative coin serves as a testament to the Senate of Pakistan’s 50 years of service to the nation and is a symbol of the country’s rich history and enduring democracy. It is a valuable addition to any collection and a cherished keepsake for all those who treasure Pakistan’s proud heritage.
